...Lake George
Lake George is located in the southern portion of the Adirondack Mountains in the northeast portion of New York. Called the Queen of American Lakes, it runs in a generally north-south direction for 32 miles. Its width varies from one to three miles.
Cottages, resorts and hotels line the western shore of the lake from Lake George Village at the southern tip to Ticonderoga at the northern tip. Highway 9N hugs the coastline between those two towns offering stunning views of the clear blue water.
Lake George Village is the hot vacation spot of the lake. Its historical significance as well as its natural beauty draws people from all parts of the world. Steamboat cruises, parasailing, shopping and general sightseeing as well as boating are the most popular attractions.

The lake at Lake George Village
Two beaches are available for swimming at Lake George Village: this city one and the Lake George State Park beach, where a state park fee is required.
A city park overlooks the lake offering a a quiet place for relaxing and people-watching. It's also set up for Wi-Fi for those needing it.
A partial view of a main street in Lake George Village can be seen from the second overlook on Prospect Mountain, a popular 5-mile drive in town from which spectacular 360-degree panoramas can be had. Seen here are the steamship launch sites and farther up, the state park beach. The main shopping street of the village is blocked by the trees. To get the best views from Prospect Mountain, I suspect one must do the hike-up only to the top. Cars were not allowed when I was there. I believe a shuttle also takes passengers to the top, but it was not running. (A fee is charged when the shuttle is running). A hike from town is 2.2 miles round-trip, and a hike from the last parking lot is 1/4-mile.
Saint Sacrement Church, Bolton Landing
Many of the eateries in Bolton Landing offered patio seating. Bolton Beans was the most colorful.

One of the more serene spots I found along the Highway 9N was this one at Hague Town Beach Park. It's open to the public and charges a small fee for non-residents to launch a boat.

Horicon is a hamlet in the town of Brant Lake on State Highway 8 toward Chestertown.
